I'm Mr. Argent, fan of obscure-ass games and occasional amateur cartoonist! Repeating the mistakes of the past in the present, as well as making entirely new ones. Portrait a speed-draw self-portrait. (R.I.P. Rock and Rage GIF)

It’s Slit Eyes, the first boss from the Mid-’90s PC/PS1 game MDK. Dude goes down with a single shot from the sniper on most difficulties, but I still think he looks pretty cool. Sadly, the guy’s never really seen up close in most cases so references were in short order. The lower of the two images is what I based my drawing on.
Funny enough, this was actually never intended to be more than a rough sketch - I wound up turning it into a full-blown practice drill. Learned a few things here about shading, and reptile heads. Particularly proud of my highlight footwork here. Also think taking a cue from MDK’s art direction worked well here - Bright colors with dark shading look quite nice IMO. This was an improvement in pacing, too - did everything but the initial sketch in the same day, over the course of roughly four hours.

Portrait of Slit Eyes, a boss from the mid-’90s third person shooter MDK, I’m working on for practice. In varying stages of completion, from inked to shaded. still need to work out how to go about the highlights on the shading, though.
